River Thames Scheme mid project review

November 2024 update

2024 has been a big year for the River Thames Scheme. The project has undertaken two successful public consultations, had hundreds of conversations with stakeholders and received thousands of pieces of feedback. Before we continue to move ahead, now is a good time, to review where the project is, to ensure we remain focused and on track to deliver against our goals.

For the next few months, the RTS will be undertaking a review to ensure that the scheme remains efficient, cost-effective and aligned with long-term goals; and to ensure the project delivers the flood risk benefits in a robust and sustainable manner.

Both Surrey County Council (SCC) and the Environment Agency (EA) are fully committed to delivering the flood risk reduction benefits of the River Thames Scheme.
